Richard Picken Memorial Grant

Established in memory of the late Richard Picken by his loved ones, the Richard Picken Memorial Grants from the Fund of the same name are established to fund the intensive training of riders aged 25 years and younger competing at the FEI CCI2* level or higher.

Grants from the Richard Picken Memorial Fund will be awarded annually to one rider competing at the FEI CCI2* level or higher. The fund is intended to grant $5,000 each year. Grant applicants will submit the following information for consideration:

  • Relevant information, including their name, horse(s), current trainer(s), age, location etc.,

  • Whether they have been a participant on any relevant USEA or USEF programs,

  • Two written references,

  • An estimation of their personal performance strengths and weaknesses, with notable focus on Show Jumping,

  • A video of a recent Show Jumping round from a licensed USEF competition,

  • A description with whom they would train and how they would spend the grant funds, and

  • Any additional information reasonably requested by the Review Committee.

Grant applications will be accepted through October 15th. Further information may be collected by the Review Committee in advance of the grant announcement made at the USEA Annual Meeting and Convention.
